The Hartland Trio

In this case the client wanted a very delicate, feminine dressing table that was about half the size of her existing table. One of the many design challenges was to fit all her ‘bits and bobs’ into this reduced area. We achieved this with ten fitted drawers and even found space for a secret drawer. The client also disliked lacquer but wanted a practical surface; the application of multiple coats of oil was the answer. The combination of slightly rippled Swiss Pear with Indian Rosewood for the handles and the stool gives the effect of understated elegance. The mirror was particularly pleasing as I was determined to find a way of making it adjustable but lockable so that it wouldn’t gradually tip away when in use. The method we developed is now a trade secret but we shall definitely use it again.
