The brief was to design and make a bookcase to house an extensive collection of hardback books and provide a display area for family photographs. Beneath it would be a cabinet to store the television and computer games. Although a highly practical piece, the design needed to be elegant and smart for this Notting Hill home. Spotlighting, operated by a proximity switch, was fitted into the cornice of the bookcase to highlight the books and photographs, with cable access in the rear and retractable doors.
